VAN NUYS : Man Shot at Drug Hangout Dies
A suspected gang member was fatally shot in Van Nuys during a possible drug deal, police said Tuesday.
Corbet Edwin Carey, 22, of Van Nuys died at Valley Presbyterian Hospital at 12:15 a.m. about an hour after he was shot along the 6600 block of Woodley Avenue, said Los Angeles police.
Detectives suspect rival gang members in the slaying. Police said a bag of rock cocaine was found at the scene of the shooting and officers have said the area is a hangout for street dealers.
Police would release no other details of the incident.
