The longest welcome home party in the city--two months of celebration to mark the return of the swallows--kicks off tonight with “A Taste of San Juan.”

Ten restaurants will participate in the opening of the Fiesta de las Golondrinas, which will be held at El Adobe de Capistrano restaurant, 31891 Camino Capistrano, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Admission, which is limited to adults, is $5.

“Welcoming the swallows back to San Juan Capistrano started over 50 years ago and has become a real tradition here,” said Anita Adkisson, president of the Fiesta Assn. “This year’s fiesta will have more events than ever before.

In addition to the food, festival-goers can “learn about (other) fiesta events from costumed representatives, . . . enjoy the party atmosphere and come away with the real flavor of the Fiesta de las Golondrinas,” said Al King, city director of community services.
