A 16-year-old girl was abducted and raped early Sunday morning by two men who forced her car off a road near El Rio, according to authorities.

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies reported that the girl was driving from a friend’s house in Oxnard about 3:30 a.m. Sunday when a gray pickup truck began following her on Rose Avenue near St. John’s Regional Medical Center.

The truck followed the girl’s car to Los Angeles Avenue as she drove toward Moorpark, and forced her car off a road south of Mesa School, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The girl was dragged from her car and taken to a remote area, where she was sexually assaulted by at least one of the men.

Afterward, the girl walked to a pay phone and called for help. She was treated for minor injuries at Ventura County Medical Center and released, the statement said.

A California Highway Patrol officer found the girl’s red Toyota station wagon abandoned on Los Angeles Avenue, about a quarter of a mile north of Santa Clara Avenue.

Sheriff’s detectives said the assailants drove a gray, full-size pickup, part of which was painted red or blue, with the left front headlight burned out. Detectives ask that anyone with information about the crime call Sgt. John Fitzgerald or Detective Mark Volpei at 654-2351.
