VENTURA : Child Molester Gets 6-Year Prison Term
- Share via
A Ventura man was sentenced to six years in prison Monday for having sex with a child who was 8 years old when the abuse began.
Aldo Tellez, 31, pleaded guilty in December to three counts of child molestation and to a special allegation that he used a position of special trust to engage in substantial sexual conduct with the girl.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Patrice Davis-Koenig said the girl, now 15, told her mother about the assaults but was not believed. The charges were filed in October, after the girl told another relative, who summoned investigators.
Davis-Koenig argued for a 10-year prison term, while Deputy Public Defender John H. Voigtsberger said Tellez should be offered probation. Superior Court Judge Allan L. Steele said probation was not an option, but he agreed that there were mitigating factors, such as the abuse Tellez endured as a child.
The girl is now in a foster home.
