Outlook: The Warriors appear ready to make the leap into the Division I elite this season. Turkish-born Buyukuncu is the top swimmer in the section. But then, how many high school swimmers competed in the Olympic backstroke last summer? Buyukuncu reached the consolation final while competing for Turkey. He would have been a virtual shoo-in at the section championship last year, but was ruled ineligible because he hadn’t met residential criteria. This year, he’s set and so are the Warriors. They have plenty of experienced swimmers, the best of whom are Lazenby (100 backstroke) and Sean Moore (100 breaststroke). Ari, who also is from Turkey, is a talented newcomer.
