Share

Two 14-year-old boys were arrested Tuesday in connection with a pre-dawn vandalism spree in Simi Valley and cited for allegedly using a baseball bat and a slingshot to smash the windows of a dozen cars, authorities said.

The boys, both from Simi Valley, were arrested after a resident in the 6100 block of Melda Street called police at 5 a.m. to report hearing the sound of breaking glass, said Simi Valley Police Sgt. Gordon Weeks.

Officers located the youths nearby and took them into custody, Weeks said. The pair were riding bicycles and had a baseball bat and a slingshot in their possession, he said.

Arresting officers cited the boys and turned them over to juvenile probation officers, who later released them to their parents, Weeks said.
