The new Metro Red Line offers a host of etiquette and safety problems for novice subway riders. The following tips are provided by the RTD: Allow passengers to exit before you try to enter.

Enter and exit the trains quickly.

Do not push or crowd while boarding.

Keep any small children near you.

Hold onto hand bars when standing in trains.

Do not walk between subway cars, doors between cars are for emergency use only.

Stand well back from the platform edge.

Do not walk between trains.

No smoking, eating or drinking.

Never enter the track area; dangerous high voltage.

In the event of an emergency on the train: Use intercom at ends of cars to contact the train operator.

Do not evacuate the train unless instructed by train operator.

To open door, pull the red emergency door release located above door and push open.

At the station, use emergency exits if necessary. If in the subway tunnel, do not step on the tracks or touch the electric third rail next to the tracks.
