2 Found Ineligible for Council Race

Two City Council candidates have been found not eligible for the April 6 municipal election because their nomination petitions fell short of the required 500 signatures of registered voters, city clerk’s officials said this week.

Disqualified for nomination to three open seats on the council are Vosgan Mekhitarian, 46, administrator of a Glendale law office, and George Min, 51, a Los Angeles police detective. Names of 15 candidates will appear on the ballot, which is believed to be a record, officials said.

All nine candidates for the school board qualified, as determined by the county registrar of voters.
