Share

A 15-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting a schoolmate at Reseda High School appeared in Sylmar Juvenile Court Wednesday but did not enter a plea.

Robert Heard of Panorama City was charged with single counts of murder and taking a gun onto a school campus in connection with the Monday killing of 17-year-old Michael Shean Ensley of South Los Angeles. Heard also was charged with attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly trying to rob a second youth a block away from campus as Heard fled the shooting scene.

Heard was ordered held without bail until March 2, when he will be back in court for an arraignment hearing so he can enter a plea. Heard’s parents, Robert and Judith Heard, said nothing during the brief court hearing and refused to comment on the case outside of court.

If convicted on all counts, Heard could be placed in the custody of the California Youth Authority until he turns 25.
