The nine-race program at Sportsman’s Park on Wednesday was canceled after jockeys voted not to ride because they said the track was unsafe.

The jockeys contended frozen clods of dirt were in the racing surface.

But Charles W. Bidwill III, the track’s vice president, said: “With the temperature rising to between 15 to 18 degrees, we had utmost confidence that any clods in the track would have been taken off before post time.”
