Nearly two years after signing Manchester’s Stone Roses, after the band was released from its contract with Silvertone Records by a London judge, Geffen Records is still waiting for its first album from the group. It’s being recorded in England with producer John Leckie, but no release date has been set. . . .

Midnight Oil’s album, “Earth & Sun & Moon” is due April 20, with a single, “Truganinni,” due April 5. A summer tour is planned. . . . Fellow Australian band INXS is at work on its next album in Italy with longtime producer Mark Opitz, but the group plans to tour before the album is released. . . .

Lookout Bigfoot, the Butthole Surfers are coming! The twisted Texas band is on a Bigfoot hunt in Oregon this weekend, part of a story on the group for Spin magazine. Leading the expedition is Jim Hewkin, a former Department of Fish and Game employee who now searches for Sasquatch as a member of the International Society of Cryptozoologists. The Surfers’ new album, “Independent Worm Saloon,” is due March 23. . . .

Stevie Nicks’ album is still on the schedule, expected to be released in mid-summer. She’s recording in L.A. with producer Glyn Johns and such musicians as Heartbreakers Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell, Little Feat’s Billy Payne and John Mellencamp drummer Kenny Aronoff. . . .

If R&B; crooner Teddy Pendergrass’ voice is deeper on one of the cuts of his May album, blame it on basso profundo Barry White, who’s producing the track. Another R&B; crooner, Gerald Levert, is guesting on the album too. . . .

Best to Mike D. of the Beastie Boys and videomaker-filmmaker Tamra Davis, who got hitched last week. . . . Smashing Pumpkins are recording in Atlanta with producer Butch Vig (Nirvana). The album, tentatively titled “Siamese Dream,” is due in summer. . . . Veteran pop-R&B; group Earth, Wind & Fire reportedly split for good last year, but the act has a new album, “Millennium, Yesterday and Today,” due in June featuring its main men--Maurice and Verdine White and crooner Philip Bailey. . . .

Looking to boost the quality of her dance tracks, Taylor Dayne is working with production team Clivilles and Cole--the C+C of C+C Music Factory--for her next album, which is due in late April. . . .

The Cocteau Twins are working in their studio near London on their next album, due in late summer. . . . Curve is also recording in London. . . . And look for a Ziggy Marley album in June. . . .

The Waterboys’ next album has been titled “Dream Harder.” The collection, produced by Bill Price (Pretenders, Pete Townshend) is scheduled for May 25. . . . Robert Fripp is forming a new version of King Crimson. No word on who will join the band, which includes guitarist Adrian Belew and drummer Bill Bruford among its alumni. . . . Tia Carrere , the female rocker/love interest from “Wayne’s World,” is readying her debut album, due in early summer.
