AND ONE MORE THING: Want to know how cool your old Edd (Kookie) Byrnes records are? The editors of “Too Cool,” the new follow-up to the out-of-print 1982 “Catalog of Cool,” will be at the Golden Apple comic book store on Melrose on Friday, eager to tell you just how your old pop-culture treasures rate. Of course, the opinions of chief editor Gene Sculatti and his crew may seem a bit eccentric. Though the book includes such highlights as a definitive essay on Louis Jordan by producer-recording artist Swamp Dogg and entries for rockers ranging from Jan & Dean to the Jesus and Mary Chain, it also gives what may well be the first-ever stamps of hip approval to the Guess Who and Billy Joel.
