The Boston Bruins did most of the shooting, but the Montreal Canadiens did most of the scoring.

Gilbert Dionne scored a pair of goals and Patrick Roy stopped 42 shots Monday night as the Canadiens defeated the Bruins, 5-2, at Boston to avenge their only defeat since late January.

The Bruins outshot Montreal, 44-17, but Roy stopped 19 shots during the second period and made three excellent saves on Vladimir Ruzicka. It was Roy’s 28th victory.

The Canadiens lead the NHL with 88 points and 41 victories.

Gary Leeman, John LeClair and Vincent Damphousse also scored for the Canadiens.

Joe Juneau and Ray Bourque scored for the Bruins.

Darin Kimble of the Bruins missed most of the game with a badly bruised left eye after fighting with Mario Roberge, who was thrown out when referee Terry Gregson found tape on the player’s fingers.

He is automatically suspended pending review by NHL officials.

Vancouver 5, Buffalo 2--Pavel Bure of the Canucks scored his 50th and 51st goals, overshadowing league scoring leader Alexander Mogliny of the Sabres, who was shut out at Hamilton, Canada.

Trevor Linden, Dixon Ward and Cliff Ronning added goals for the Canucks as the Smythe Division leaders extended their winning streak to three games.
