COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Rancho Santiago Scores Twice in Seventh to Beat Golden West

Rancho Santiago scored two runs in the seventh inning to beat Golden West, 2-1, in an Orange Empire Conference softball game Monday at Rancho Santiago.

With one out, Teresa Pixler and Traci Ellery had back-to-back doubles to tie it, 1-1, for Rancho Santiago (7-6, 3-0 in conference). Suki Godoy, who pinch ran for Ellery, then stole third and scored on a two-out single by Robin Northcraft. Golden West is 0-3, 2-4.

In other conference games:

Cypress 1, Saddleback 0--Leigh Sager (7-2) pitched a three-hitter for host Cypress (19-6, 3-0). The Chargers’ run came in the first inning when Courtney Hodge walked with the bases loaded to force in Trisha Bokano. Susan Dugas had two hits for Cypress. Laura Kesterson (10-3) took the loss for Saddleback (11-3, 1-2).

Orange Coast 9, Irvine Valley 0--Jill Bishop had two hits and two RBIs and also pitched the first five innings for the victory for visiting Orange Coast (6-4, 2-1). Irvine Valley is 2-8, 0-3.

In nonconference baseball:

Rancho Santiago 10, Palomar 4--Ryan Anderson had three hits and three RBIs and Jason Minici had four hits and one RBI for visiting Rancho Santiago (12-3). Dave Gonzalez also had three hits in the Dons’ 18-hit attack.

In Orange Empire Conference golf:

Orange Coast 386, San Diego Mesa 391, Rancho Santiago 392, Riverside 392--Chris Karney shot a three-under par 69 for Riverside and Sean Boulton shot a 73 at El Prado Chino Creek for Orange Coast (4-2 in conference).

Saddleback 377, Palomar 381, Cuyamaca 401--Scott Richardson shot a one-over 73 and Colin Elderry had 74 for Saddleback at Mile Square.
