A Canadian Football League player was shot in the leg and arm over the weekend when a group of men opened fire with automatic weapons at his northern California home.

Larry Thompson of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers was hit once in the leg and arm early Saturday in Fairfield, 45 miles northeast of San Francisco.

The 21-year-old wide receiver underwent surgery to repair bone damage in his upper left leg and was in good condition in a local hospital.
