With the game on the line, what team would hand the ball to a guy with a bad limp?

Simple. What team has Michael Jordan?

Proving that he is still better on one good foot than almost everybody else on two feet, Jordan limped his way to 38 points, including 11 in the final 5:08, leading the Chicago Bulls to an 86-83 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics Tuesday night at Chicago.

Jordan was questionable for the game because of a bacterial infection on his left foot, and he favored the injury noticeably.

But he still managed to rally the Bulls from an 11-point deficit, accounting for 11 of their last 13 points after missing the last two games because of the infection.

Chicago has beaten the SuperSonics six consecutive times and nine in a row at home. Seattle’s last victory at Chicago Stadium was a 119-110 win on Nov. 17, 1983.

The Bulls have won eight of nine games.

Houston 104, Miami 94--In a match of the NBA’s hottest teams, the Rockets won their 11th consecutive game while ending the Heat’s franchise-record six-game winning streak at Houston.

Hakeem Olajuwon scored 18 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter and added 15 rebounds for the Rockets.

San Antonio 119, Dallas 84--The streaking Mavericks set another dubious record at San Antonio.

Dallas lost a franchise record 27th consecutive road game and tied a club mark with its 15th consecutive loss overall.

The Spurs’ David Robinson had a game-high 19 points in just three quarters. Sean Elliott added 16 for San Antonio after missing the past eight games due to back pain.

Utah 116, Minnesota 107--Karl Malone scored 27 points and Jeff Malone had 24, but the Jazz had to hold off a rally by the Timberwolves at Salt Lake City.

Utah led, 103-85, with 7:18 remaining, but had to withstand a 20-6 run to end a four-game home losing streak.

Charlotte 124, Washington 104--The Hornets won a franchise-record 32nd game, spearheaded by Larry Johnson’s 23 points and 13 rebounds at Charlotte.

The Hornets won their third consecutive game and ninth in 14 games, improving to 32-26, the first time Charlotte has ever been six games over .500.

Atlanta 117, Milwaukee 103--Dominique Wilkins scored 37 points and set a franchise record with eight three-pointers at Milwaukee. Wilkins is the eighth player in NBA history to hit eight or more three-pointers. He missed two three-point shots in the last six minutes and fell short of NBA record of nine.

Phoenix 128, Sacramento 108--Cedric Ceballos scored a career-high 40 points at Sacramento to lead the Suns to their eighth consecutive victory over the Kings.
