Parsons first played at Orange Coast in 1990 but left the team about halfway through the season because he was tired of baseball.

After a couple of years away from the game, he has returned to the Pirates with a new desire to compete.

Parsons, from La Quinta High School, is off to strong start, hitting .333 with 11 runs batted in.

He had his best performances to date last week when he went seven for 12 with a home run, a double and six RBIs.

He had two hits, including a double, and drove in four runs as OCC beat Riverside, 11-6.

He had three hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs in a 6-4 loss to Long Beach.

Another top performer:

John Molle, who scored 50 points as Saddleback split two playoff basketball games. He had 28 in the 80-61 victory over Rio Hondo and added 32 in the 59-58 loss to L.A. Trade Tech.
