Finney and Oscar

By what standards does Finke categorize those three Finney films “Loophole,” “Looker” and “Wolfen” as “embarrassments”?

“Wolfen,” directed by Michael Wadleigh (with astounding camera work by Gerry Fisher), is anything but an embarrassment. Does she mean that it simply didn’t make enough money? Well neither did “Greed,” “Citizen Kane,” “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “Vertigo” and other classics.

“Wolfen” may not be in a category with those films, but it’s unfair and uninformed to dismiss it.
