Kings’ Games Against Flyers, Sabres Remain in Doubt, According to Team

Because of uncertain weather conditions in the East, the Kings might resume Saturday’s aborted game against the Philadelphia Flyers this afternoon.

While the NHL had announced that today’s game against the Buffalo Sabres also was postponed, the Kings said the game might still be played. The team says it has four options: playing the final two periods against the Flyers today, playing in Buffalo tonight, playing the Sabres on Monday, or simply returning to Los Angeles.

“We’ve never had more than one game on any night that’s been postponed,” NHL spokesman Gary Meagher said. “New dates have not been determined for any of these games.”

A decision could be made as early as this morning when NHL President Gil Stein discusses the situation with the teams involved.

The Kings, however, have only one more Eastern trip scheduled. They will play in Detroit on March 29 and Toronto on March 31 before returning home to play Minnesota on April 3.

The last time the Kings had a game postponed because of bad weather was Jan. 30, 1977, when they could not get to Buffalo.
