Life After Bush: Pete Williams, whose Pentagon press briefings were broadcast worldwide during the 1990-91 Persian Gulf War, will join the NBC News Washington bureau as a national correspondent on March 29. Prior to his stint as Pentagon spokesman for the Bush Administration, Williams spent 10 years as an anchor, reporter and news director at an NBC affiliate in Wyoming. Bureau chief Tim Russert said that Williams, who reportedly had conversations with both ABC and CNN before taking the NBC job, will not cover the Pentagon, which he left in January. In addition, Richard Haass, a member of the National Security Council who served as principal adviser on Persian Gulf and Middle East policies for the Bush Administration, will become an NBC News consultant.
