Irvine Softball Pitcher Smith Commits to Furman

Irvine High softball pitcher Rebecca Smith has signed a letter of intent to attend Furman this fall.

Smith was a first-team All-South Coast League selection last year and this year has compiled a 6-2 record and a .16 earned-run average with 42 strikeouts.

Smith said she chose Furman, in Greenville, S.C., for its strong education program and its proximity to many of her relatives.
