Sports Emmy Nominations: NBC and CBS got the most nominations for the 1992 Sports Emmy Awards, with 22 each, followed by ABC with 16, ESPN with 14 and HBO with 12. Vying for the Emmy as best play-by-play announcer were ABC’s Jim McKay and Al Michaels, NBC’s Bob Costas, CBS’ Verne Lundquist and ESPN’s Chris Berman. Nominated as best analyst were CBS’ John Madden, Terry Bradshaw and Tim McCarver, ESPN’s Dick Vitale and Jim Valvano for work on both ABC and ESPN. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will announce the winners at a dinner in New York on April 13.
