ANAHEIM — A driver fleeing an accident plowed into a tree, injuring himself and seven other people in the car, police said Sunday.
The driver, whose name was not available, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, said Anaheim Police Sgt. Thomas Lahmon.
The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. Saturday when, police said, two cars collided at the intersection of Katella Avenue and Haster Street. One of the cars immediately sped off, only to spin out of control soon after, Lahmon said.
The seven passengers in the fleeing car sustained minor injuries, while the driver was hurt more seriously, Lahmon said. All of the passengers were treated at area hospitals, and most were later released, he added. Further information was unavailable.
The people in the other car were not hurt, police said.
