The King of Cable: The USA Network was the highest rated basic cable network in prime time during the first quarter of 1993, averaging a 2.3 Nielsen rating (1.4 million homes). TBS finished in second place with a 2.1. Among the programs boosting USA’s rating: Friday night movies, weeknight airings of “Murder, She Wrote” and “USA Tuesday Night Fights.” In an effort to boost its ratings even further, USA plans to begin a multimedia consumer awareness image campaign, “Escape With US,” which will include commercial ads on national network TV, nationally syndicated programs, local television stations and in movie theaters.
