LOS ANGELES : Firefighter Killed in Fall From Chopper
Los Angeles County firefighter Jeff Langley, 28, was killed in Topanga State Park on Tuesday when he fell from a helicopter while trying to retrieve equipment left behind after his helicopter squad helped airlift a dead hiker from the park, authorities said.
Paramedics flew in to airlift Jeremy S. Siegrist, 20, of Marina del Rey, who had been hiking near the Eagle Rock region of the park when he fell at about 5 p.m., county fire officials said. They said Siegrist apparently tumbled about 150 feet, suffering massive injuries.
Langley was killed when the paramedics returned to the site after taking Siegrist to the hospital.
