Fountain Valley Holds Off Late Rally
With the potential tying and winning runs in scoring position, Fountain Valley third baseman Frank Granillo caught Chris Yadrick’s line drive for the final out to give the Barons an 8-7 victory over Huntington Beach Friday in a Sunset League baseball game.
Rich Montgomery had three RBIs and pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to earn the save for Fountain Valley (8-4, 3-1 in league).
In the top of the seventh, Granillo singled home Matt Roman from second to give Fountain Valley an 8-6 lead.
Yadrick and Ryan Brannan each had three hits for Huntington Beach (1-3 in league).
