KISS Drummer Settles: Peter Criss, former drummer for the rock group KISS, has settled a libel suit against the Star tabloid, which had portrayed him as a homeless alcoholic. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Criss, who wore black-and-white “cat-man” makeup on stage, had sued over a 1991 story and photos claiming he was “living like a dog,” eating from bread lines, sleeping in a men’s room at the Santa Monica Pier and “bloated by alcohol abuse that has destroyed his kidneys.” Criss’ attorney claimed the only real photo of Criss used in the article was a 10-year-old KISS publicity shot. The Star had no comment.
