An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the Sunday night shooting death of another 18-year-old at a city nightclub.
Tan Van Tran of Westminster turned himself in Wednesday night at the Garden Grove Police Department after learning that a warrant had been issued for his arrest, Lt. John Woods said.
Tran is suspected of shooting Tin Sing Nguyen during an argument between rival gang members in the parking lot outside the Can nightclub in the 14200 block of Euclid Street.
Police said that as the argument intensified, Tran pulled a gun from his waistband and began firing at rival gang members.
Nguyen apparently was not involved in the argument but was a member of one of the gangs at the scene, police said.
Friends drove Nguyen, who turned 18 on the day he was shot, to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died about 12:30 a.m. Monday.
Tran is being held at County Jail on $250,000 bail. He was booked on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to commit murder, Woods said.
