Houston Hires Brooks to Replace Pat Foster
From Staff and Wire Reports
Houston assistant Alvin Brooks was named the university’s basketball coach Thursday, the fourth in the program’s 47-year history.
Brooks, 33, replaces Pat Foster, who left more than two weeks ago for Nevada.
Brooks’ selection was announced the day after Tubby Smith of Tulsa withdrew his name from consideration. Brooks said he planned no immediate changes in the staff. Another of Foster’s assistants, Tommy Jones, also was said to be in the running for the job.
