Weekend Box Office : Filmgoers Accepting ‘Proposal’

All the box-office action for “Indecent Proposal” masked an otherwise unremarkable Easter weekend at the ticket windows. With Robert Redford, Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson, the R-rated film raced to $18.3 million in sales--more than the total of the next four ranked films.

In positions 2 through 5, were family-themed movies. The new entry among them was “The Sandlot,” a baseball comedy, that came in No. 2 with $4.9 million--more of a bunt than a hit.

* “This Boy’s Life,” with Robert DeNiro and Ellen Barken, opened in three theaters to a strong $76,000. Fine Line Pictures’ art house “Bodies, Rest & Motion” did a sharp $76,000 on six screens.
