Horne’s JVC Debut: Lena Horne, 75, hasn’t been performing much in recent years, but she will take to the stage this June at New York’s JVC Jazz Festival to sing the songs of Billy Strayhorn, who was a close friend. The appearance will be Horne’s first at the festival, which will also feature pianist Keith Jarrett, trumpeters Wynton Marsalis and Jon Faddis joining together to perform old Louis Armstrong big-band numbers, a tribute concert to band leader Art Blakey, and the Tito Puente Big Band with Celia Cruz.
