Faria Wins Scratch Event at Speedway

Mike Faria of Apple Valley won the four-lap scratch main event at the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program Friday at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

Gary Hicks of Riverside was second, Billy Hamill of Monrovia was third and Charlie Venegas of Costa Mesa fourth.

Hamill won the eight-lap handicap main event. Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano was second, Venegas was third, Scott Brant of Riverside was fourth, Hicks was fifth, Faria sixth, Lance King of Huntington Beach seventh and Rod Savnders of Costa Mesa eighth.
