PREP ROUNDUP : Winemiller’s 2 Hits, 2 RBIs Pace Rancho Alamitos

Erin Winemiller had two hits and drove in two runs as Rancho Alamitos beat La Quinta, 5-2, in a Garden Grove League baseball game Saturday at Rancho Alamitos.

Nathan Freeman had two hits also for Rancho Alamitos (11-4, 3-3 in league), which broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the fifth inning.

Catcher Ken Granger had a two-run home run in the third inning for La Quinta (14-4, 4-2).

In a Sunset League baseball game:

Fountain Valley 9, Servite 6--Ken Montgomery struck out a Servite a batter with the bases loaded to end the game, earning his second save for visiting Fountain Valley (14-4, 5-1).

Rich Montgomery’s three-run double in the sixth inning drove in the eventual winning runs for Fountain Valley. Brian Ponchak (6-1) gave up four hits in five innings for the victory.
