School: Orange Lutheran

Sport: Baseball

Position: Shortstop/pitcher

Class: Senior

Entering this season, his first at Orange Lutheran, Coach Jeff Pressman believed the Lancers wouldn’t be much better than an average team. Only two starters returned from a team that lost in the first round of the playoffs last season. But Courvoisier, a four-year starter at shortstop, is having such an outstanding season that he is bringing the rest of the team along with him. Last week he was 10 for 12, with three home runs, two triples, three doubles and 12 runs batted in, raising his batting average to .525. “He’s been hot all year and this is just the culmination of an extremely hot hitter who has just carried our team,” Pressman said. In a 13-4 victory over Capistrano Valley Christian on Friday, Courvoisier had two home runs and seven RBIs. He pitched a three-hitter in a 5-0 victory over Whittier Christian on Wednesday.
