Driver of Pickup Crashes Into House
The driver of a pickup lost control of his vehicle, crashed through a brick wall then smashed into the bathroom of a house Friday afternoon, police said.
Earl Nelson, 35, of Westminster told police another car cut in front of him as he drove through the intersection of Magnolia Street and Foxglove Avenue.
“He hit the curb on the northeast corner of the intersection, went airborne, and eventually lodged into the home,” Fountain Valley Police Sgt. Keith Levin said.
The owner of the one-story house on Foxglove Avenue, Ores Downs, had finished taking a shower only minutes before the intrusion. He was not injured.
Nelson was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center for treatment of apparently minor injuries.
“It was a really loud crash,” said longtime neighbor Bill Yamamoto. “The couple who live at the house were shocked. They were really shook up. The bathroom was smashed, and the wall came down. It was quite a sight.”
Police said the crash caused severe traffic problems during rush hour.
