Hubert Again Takes Ventura 20-Lap Mini Stock Main

Share

Gary Hubert of Camarillo established himself as an early-season favorite in the Mini Stock division with a determined victory in the 20-lap main event at Ventura Raceway on Friday night.

Hubert, who also won the feature last week, started the race in the sixth spot and quickly moved up to challenge leader Mike Raschke of Ventura on the second lap. Hubert got bumped in traffic on Lap 7, spun out and went to the back of the pack, seemingly out of contention. However, three more yellow flag mishaps over the next couple of laps helped Hubert make up ground.

Hubert’s determination finally paid off when he edged past leader Bruce Dunson of Santa Barbara at the start-finish line of Lap 13, and led the rest of the way.

Dunson was second and Gary Swenson of Port Hueneme was third.

In the Street Stock 20-lap oval main event, Paul Moore of Oxnard won for the second consecutive week. Adail Gayhart of Malibu was second.
