Parent, Teacher and Students Uphold Valencia High Virtues

Share

After reading the article “Largely Latino High School Fights Ethnic Stereotyping” (April 13), I feel I have to reply. Mr. (Brahim) Zabeli feels his children will receive a better education at El Dorado High School than Valencia High School, regardless of Valencia’s higher test scores, National Merit Scholarship record, fine teachers, outstanding football team, top marching band and other excellent qualities.

I have two sons who graduated from Valencia and a daughter who attends now. When my daughter completed sixth grade, the Placentia School District gave us a choice of which high school area (for her to) continue her education.

We agree with Mr. Zabeli that there is more to education than just test scores. After researching both high schools, we chose Valencia. We think it is important for children to learn with all races and socioeconomic backgrounds. I think Mr. Zabeli should consider what it is he is teaching his children.

In a few years, his children will be the minority in the California schools, then what is he going to do, move out of state?
