CANOGA PARK : Good Samaritan Loses Car to Thief

Share

A good Samaritan who jumped out of his car Friday to help a bleeding accident victim discovered his own car was stolen while his back was turned, Los Angeles police said.

Loren Murdock, 29, of Canoga Park, was driving near Mason Street and Saticoy Street about 9 a.m. when he came upon an accident between a car and a delivery truck. He stopped to aid a victim who had a head injury, said Sgt. Timothy Moss.

“He looked up and his car was gone,” Moss said. “Within 25 seconds of him bending over to help, someone got in his car, which still had the engine running, and stole it.”

There was no trace of Murdock’s brown 1980 AMC Spirit and witnesses of the accident did not realize the car was being stolen, Moss said.
