Quina Says He Was Fired by Simi Valley

Share

Stan Quina said Saturday he has been fired as Simi Valley High football coach.

Quina, the Pioneers’ walk-on coach the past three seasons, has been openly seeking a coaching job that included a teaching position for several months.

“My stance all along was I would like to stay (at Simi Valley) if I wasn’t offered anything else,” Quina said, “but (the school) needed a commitment and I couldn’t give one because if there was a high school coaching and teaching job offered, even over the summer, I’d be nuts not to take it.”

Quina, 37, applied for positions at St. Francis, Crescenta Valley and several Orange County schools, but was not offered any jobs. He said he is being considered for a assistant job at Ventura College.
