CS Northridge’s Newest Recruit Is Former Marine

Share

Cal State Northridge landed its fourth basketball recruit when Shawn Stone, a 6-foot-2 swingman from MiraCosta College, signed a letter of intent, the school announced Wednesday.

Stone, 24, played two seasons at MiraCosta and averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds as a sophomore during the 1992-93 season. He also made 42% (33-79) of his shots from three-point range. As a freshman, he averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds.

“He plays the small forward spot because he plays much bigger than his height,” Matador Coach Pete Cassidy said. “I see him as a perimeter player, but he can put the ball on the floor and penetrate to break defenses down.”

Before his two years at MiraCosta, Stone spent four years in the Marine Corps. He attended Fayetteville (Ala.) High and earned all-state honors as a senior.
