A 28-year-old woman was shot to death Saturday night and two men were arrested after an argument in a Beach Boulevard parking lot escalated into violence, police said.

Cheryl Dixon, whose place of residence was not released, was shot once in the head. She was a passenger in a car that was leaving the parking lot of a bar at 15549 Beach Blvd., just south of McFadden Avenue, about 11:30 p.m., police said. Dixon was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she was pronounced dead at 4:26 a.m., according to Lt. Rick Main of the Westminster Police Department.

The incident began as an argument among Dixon, Angel Telles, 23, and several other people in the parking lot of Lucky John’s II, Main said. Dixon then got into a car driven by Stephen Sauer, 26, of Huntington Beach, who allegedly tried to ram a pickup truck driven by Joseph Federico, 23, of Rialto, Main said.

In the alleged ramming attempt, Sauer apparently pinned Telles against the truck, injuring his leg, Main said.

When Sauer, Dixon and two other passengers then tried to drive south on Beach Boulevard away from the lot, Federico allegedly fired several rounds from a semiautomatic handgun at the car, fatally striking Dixon, Main said.

Federico was arrested and jailed on suspicion of murder, Main said. Sauer was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Telles, whose place of residence was not released, was hospitalized with a leg injury, Main said.
