R. Merrill Gregory, 87, Fullerton civic leader who was president and chairman of Fullerton Savings & Loan. A Fullerton native and son of a former mayor, Gregory was educated at Occidental College and Stanford University. After several years in real estate, he joined the savings and loan association in 1940 as manager, and retired as president in 1973 and as chairman of the board in 1992. He was a founder and director of the Fullerton Boys Club, chairman of the Fullerton Planning Commission and president of the Chamber of Commerce, and served on the boards of the local school district and Community Chest. On Monday in Fullerton of a heart attack.
