SEAL BEACH : City Votes to Buy New Street Sweeper
The City Council voted this week to spend $108,000 over five years to purchase a new street sweeper.
The new vehicle will replace the city’s 10-year-old sweeper, which is now broken and would cost more to repair than it is worth, City Manager Jerry L. Bankston said.
On Tuesday, the council voted to pay $24,756 to Nixon-Egli Equipment Co., which sells the sweeper. It will be the first of five annual payments that the city will make to pay for the vehicle.
In an effort to reduce bidding costs, Seal Beach joined with the city of Indio in seeking bids on street sweepers, Bankston said. Nixon-Egli submitted the lowest bid.
The new machine should begin cleaning Seal Beach streets sometime this summer.
