BURBANK : Cities Plan to Share Cost of Rail Study

Share

Glendale and Burbank are proposing to share the cost of a $150,000 study to determine a route for a light rail line from tracks at San Fernando Road and Hollywood Way to a planned new passenger terminal at Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport.

The Glendale City Council on Tuesday agreed to seek $75,000 in transportation tax funds from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Similar action is expected in two weeks by the Burbank City Council.

The money would be used to hire consultants to propose six alternative routes and to recommend the most desirable for a rail line between the terminal and the railroad right of way.

The study is part of a drive by Burbank, Glendale and the Airport Authority to obtain priority funding for a proposed $445-million light rail line from Burbank through Glendale and Los Angeles.
