Don’t Close the Book on This Open Champion
Jim Murray’s piece on U.S. Open winner Lee Janzen left me stunned. In the World According to Murray, Janzen felt no pressure because he’s a “nobody.” Murray also seems worried about the rookie status of the champion because Janzen “cried like a baby” upon completion of the event. Mr. Murray thinks Mr. Janzen needs to “work on that.”
C’mon, Jim, get an grip and give Master Janzen the credit he deserves. He outplayed the best in the world. Your great stars were nothing but lowly flames of half-hearted inspiration. Hell, a lot of them didn’t make the cut.
Mr. Janzen played one of the most courageous tournaments in the history of the Open, and I regret that you can’t find the words to congratulate the man.
