CAMARILLO : Woman Abducted Outside Library

Share

A 59-year-old Camarillo woman was abducted outside the Camarillo Library and robbed at knifepoint Thursday, prompting an air and ground search that failed to turn up the suspect, authorities said.

Carole Bral was driving slowly through the library parking lot about 11 a.m. when a man jumped into her car, pulled out a knife and ordered her to drive, Sheriff’s Sgt. Keith Lazz said.

Bral left the library at 3100 Ponderosa Drive and drove several miles while the suspect took cash from her purse. The suspect finally ordered Bral to stop near Santa Rosa and Gerry roads and got out.

The man ran into an orchard. Bral drove to her home, which was about 10 minutes away, and called police. She was shaken but not harmed.

A sheriff’s helicopter flew over the area, and several deputies in squad cars searched for the man but did not find him.
