BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : Strained Shoulder Puts Swindell on DL
- Share via
Greg Swindell’s homecoming season took another wrong turn when the Houston Astros put him on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left shoulder.
Swindell, who signed a four-year, $17 million free-agent contract last winter, was booed heavily at the Astrodome on Monday after dropping to 6-8 in a 10-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Swindell, a Houston native, gave up 10 hits, including a home run, and six runs in five innings against the Cardinals. He has given up 15 home runs in 111 innings this season and compiled a 4.95 earned-run average.

The Cardinals put right-handed reliever Mike Perez on the 15-day disabled list with a sore pitching shoulder.
To take his place on their roster, the Cardinals called up left-handed starter Allen Watson from their triple-A Louisville farm club.
Perez has appeared in a team-high 43 games and is 4-2 with a 2.28 ERA in 47 1/3 innings.
