Pop Album Chart : Streisand Takes ‘Broadway’ to No. 1

Share

Though more celebrated as a tennis groupie these days, singer Barbra Streisand shows she can still sell records. Lukewarm reviews didn’t cool the passion of her hard-core fans, who bought enough copies of “Back to Broadway” to push it to the top of the pop chart. Billy Ray Cyrus’ “It Won’t Be the Last” moved up three notches to No. 3. This second week was crucial for that album: The climb indicates the country singer still has some clout left in the pop market.

* More soundtrack mania: Turner’s music from the film, which is about her rocky road to stardom with ex-husband Ike, continues to move up the chart--to No. 17. It’s getting a boost from a hit single, “I Don’t Wanna Fight,” that’s No. 17 on the pop singles chart.
