Recent Claimer Dr. Hyde Takes Allowance Feature
Dr. Hyde, off at 10-1, took command in the upper stretch and went on to win Thursday’s $36,000 feature race at Hollywood Park by 2 1/2 lengths over 2-1 favorite Yearly Vacation.
Dr. Hyde, ridden by Sal Gonzalez Jr. and carrying 114 pounds, raced in $10,000 and $12,500 claiming events in the last month, finishing second in both. He covered 7 1/2 furlongs in the feature for California breds in 1:29 and paid $22.60, $7.80 and $5.
The victory was the eighth in 22 starts for Dr. Hyde and was worth $19,800, raising the earnings of the 6-year-old son of Golden Eagle II to $100,125.
Yearly Vacation was a half-length in front of Baron Von Ullmann for second and returned $4.40 and $3.20. Baron Von Ullmann paid $4.60.
