Share

Ventura County sheriff’s detectives on Friday arrested a Port Hueneme woman after she confessed to friends and relatives that she felt guilty about breaking an elderly Oxnard woman’s shoulder during a mugging, police said.

Family members and friends called police to say that Jennifer Fooshee, 19, admitted she snatched the woman’s purse and knocked her down, Detective Mike Colon said. The male driver of the getaway car still was being sought, Colon said.

The woman has claimed she didn’t know her accomplice well enough to identify him, Colon said. He was described as a white male, about 30 years old, driving a brown or beige ‘80s-model Toyota or Datsun two-door car, police said.

The purse snatching occurred about 2:45 p.m. July 9 as the 78-year-old victim was shopping in the Los Posas Plaza mall in Camarillo, police said. The woman was knocked to the ground and her shoulder was broken as her purse was ripped away from her, police said.

The woman’s purse and wallet were recovered with some personal papers intact, Colon said. Fooshee was being held in the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of robbery, Colon said.
